Matemo Private Island
Situated in the magnificent Quirimbas Archipelago, Northern Mozambique is Matemo Island, 8 kilometres in length and 3 kilometres wide, a magical destination with private beaches and countless coves to be discovered and blissful surroundings to be experienced. Accommodation
The private Island of Matemo offers idyllic Mozambique island accommodation. Matemo Private Island Resort is a one of two new additions to the Rani Resorts portfolio.The Matemo Resort accommodation consists of a total of 24 thatched chalets with en-suite bathrooms fitted with indoor shower and separate bath as well as a private outdoor shower. The main areas are in a spacious open sided building, sitting on a small coral cliff above the sea. Each chalet is beautifully appointed, with spacious en-suite bathrooms, outside showers and deck hammocks for lazing in whilst watching passing local Mozambique dhows and the gentle undulations of the sea. The chalets are spread along Matemos private beach. Each is air-conditioned, has large comfortable beds, and all of the little additions that you would expect of a resort-style hotel. You will find a TV with satellite channels, a stocked mini-bar and a hair dryer. Every effort has been made to ensure that the beach chalets blend into the natural Quirimba Island surroundings, with local Mokuti palm roofs offset by glamorous touches such as local white marble, ornate carved doors from Zanzibar and rich furnishings and rugs from Dubai.
Activities
Matemo Island Resort is ideal for families and couples alike, as well as fishing and diving enthusiasts. Matemo Island, approximately 2400 hectares in size, with palm groves, palm vegetation and vast vistas makes for island discoveries, beach walks and striking sunsets that flood the skies with dazzling hues.
The tropical waters around Matemo are one of Mozambique's best-kept secrets. Here in clear waters that reach 30c in summer and rarely less than 26c in winter, you will discover a marine ecosystem that is absolutely pristine.Matemo Island Resort offers a full range of water sports and island activities including diving and fishing, and is an ideal vantage point from which to explore the rich cultural history and diversity of nearby islands. Matemos spectacular coral "bommies", as well as reef banks, wall dives and a fascinating wreck dive, allow divers of all ability to experience a dazzling world of marine diversity Non motorized activities such as sailing, kayaking, shore-based snorkelling and windsurfing are included in the price of your stay. Diving, waterskiing, deep-sea fishing and snorkeling off a boat are all an additional charge.
