Moloka'i Island - The Friendly Isle
Molokai is a beautiful island in the Hawaiian archipelago. It is 38 by 10 miles in size with a land area of 260 square miles, making it the fifth largest of the main Hawaiian Islands and the 27th largest island in the United States.It lies east of Oahu island across the 25-mile wide Kaiwi Channel and north of Lānai, separated from it by the Kalohi Channel. The lights of Honolulu are visible at night from the west end of Molokai, while nearby Lānai and Maui are clearly visible from anywhere along the south shore of the island.

For years residents of Molokai have resisted attempts to dramatically increase tourism.Community members successfully opposed the development company Molokai Ranch's attempt to expand through the "Save La'au Point" movement. As a result, on March 24, 2008 what was then the islands largest employer decided to shut all operations including hotels, movie theater, restaurants, and golf course.so on the island there are no more nightclubs or supermarkets, no high-rise buildings or bustling cities, no traffic or traffic lights . this island moves in harmony with the wind and the palm trees, the waves and the sky. Molokai markets itself today as Hawaii's "Most Natural Island" because the aloha spirit flourishes here.
In the past it has been "The Friendly Island" and "The Most Hawaiian Island”.
On Molokai island, you can do as much activities as you want or nothing at all. Time spent here is a good way to get acquainted with the old Hawaiian-style of life which involves family, fishing, and feasting with friends. Molokai island is a hikers paradise. There are mountain, valley, and shoreline hikes to choose from, with trails leading to spectacular scenic overlooks, historic sites and secluded forest pools. Tennis is available at various locations around the island. Water sports enthusiasts will find a complete slate of activities to choose from including sailing, kayaking, surfing snorkeling, skin diving, and sportfishing. Explore Molokais "outback" on horseback or mountain bike, or with custom tours operated by local guides;
Molokai has a lot of beautiful beaches on all parts of the island. However, not all of them are safe for swimming and snorkeling and many are difficult to reach.
Only three of the our beaches have restroom facilities and only two have potable water. Therefore, be sure you take plenty of drinking water with you for any day at the beach.
At all of Molokai's beaches, respect the power of the ocean and exercise caution. If you don't see residents playing in the water, you probably shouldn't either. The cautions listed with each beach below are accurate, so don't dismiss them. We wouldn't want to loose you during your visit. but the way, If you decide to spend your vacation in this beautiful island do not forget the sunscreen, the tropical sun is very intense J
