Italian Islands- Capri

Capri Island
Capri island is in the Bay of Naples, south of the city of Naples and near the tip of the Amalfi Peninsula, in the Campania region of Southern Italy.
Rising up out of the sea just off the far end of the Sorrentine peninsula, the island of Capri has long been the Bay of Naples' most desirable, and glamorous destination. Capri is an enchanting and picturesque island made of limestone rock. A favorite with Roman emperors, the rich and famous, artists, and writers, it's still one of the Mediterranean's must-see places. Preferred playground since Roman times, Emperor Augustus found Capri's enchanting landscape the perfect antidote to the stresses of office; Tiberius even moved the imperial capital here, and transformed the island in magnificent theatre for his infamous "royal" revelries.
Travel to Capri is a highlight of a Naples or Amalfi Coast vacation. Capri is an enchanting and picturesque island made of limestone rock.
Capri is famously romantic and stylish, with Ischia home to spas and some impressive archeological remains. The island's top attraction is the famous Blue Grotto, Grotta Azzurra.Beaches are scattered around the island. There are only two towns - Capri, just above Marina Grande, and Anacapri, the higher town. Both Anacapri and Capri have a range of hotels. Anacapri appears to have more budget accommodations and may be more peaceful at night while Capri is the main center and has more nightlife. Lemon trees, flowers, and birds are abundant on the island.
No visit to Capri island is complete without at least a few hours spent on the Mediterranean sea surrounding the island. Whether you choose to join an organised tour, or rent a private boat with captain, taking to the turquoise waters is the only way to explore some of the most beautiful parts of the island.
